ABOUT THE TEACHER!
Hello! I am Ms. Gonzalez, and I’d like to welcome you to our Biology class! As we begin our year of adventure into the world of Biology, I’d like to provide you with some of my background. My Bachelor’s degree is in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology with a focus in Wildlife Health from the University of California, Davis. I have a Single-Subject Teaching Credential for Biology from California State University, Fullerton.
My goal is to work as a team with you to create a challenging and fun learning experience for everyone. Every student deserves the same chance to learn, so we will be doing everything we can to make that happen! |
ABOUT THE CLASS!
BIOLOGY
In this class, students will gain a fundamental understanding of biological concepts as they build scientific inquiry and problem solving skills. Students will develop scientific questions, test hypotheses to investigate solutions, and use argumentation to share conclusions. The course is based on the Next Generation Science Standards for High School Life Science. The course will cover the areas of investigation and experimentation, ecology, structure of matter and biochemistry, cell energetics, organ systems and physiology, cell reproduction, genetics and inheritance, and the theory of evolution. ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY In this class, students will build on knowledge and skills gained from Biology and Chemistry to develop an understanding of the terminology, structures, functions, and system interdependence within the human body. It focuses on how the organ systems in the vertebrate body (skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory, etc.) interact to maintain homeostasis. It is based on a section of the Next Generation Science Standards for High School Life Science. |
